As part of the 2010 Water's Edge Race Series, the 6th Annual Deep Cove 200m Dash is known as the first race of the race season. Water’s Edge has once again partnered with Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak to bring the Deep Cove 200m Dash (formerly known as the Dash for Charity) to the cozy North Shore village of Deep Cove on April 24, 2010. This stunning venue will feature a minimum of 3 sprints throughout the day, giving teams the opportunity to work out their race strategy and begin accumulating points for the series.

The Deep Cove 200m Dash will once again be supporting  the BC Children's Hospital's Adolescent Psychiatric Unit.  The Unit is in need of a new TV for their Game room and we hope to raise funds to purchase a TV.

The kids are generally in the Unit for 4-6 weeks, which can be a long time to spend in hospital. The  Unit uses the games for entertainment purposes as well as for distraction, socialization and rapport building. The kids response to the games often fits into the Unit assessment process.

"CANS FOR THE CANOE" IS BACK!

The Deep Cove Dash will also be supporting the local North Shore Food Bank - The Harvest Project.  Partipants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for the canoe - which will be onsite.

Harvest Project

Harvest Project is a registered charity working to "Extend a hand up, not a hand out" to those in need on the North Shore. Since 1993, Harvest has been assisting families and individuals overcome difficult life circumstances so they can take positive steps forward in their lives and work toward self-sufficiency. Through client care coaching, food and clothing, Harvest provides a safety net between temporary setbacks and desperation. They welcome gifts of food, hygiene products, clothes and financial aid from the community in support of their mission. Every month their grocery program feeds more than 900 North Shore clients and their families. Over 300 are children.
